{"id":12168,"date":"2021-02-04T09:19:41","date_gmt":"2021-02-04T07:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.terveilm.ee\/leht\/?page_id=12168"},"modified":"2024-12-11T19:24:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T17:24:32","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.terveilm.ee\/leht\/about-us\/?lang=en","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Estonian Roundtable for Development Cooperation (AK\u00dc) is a NGO platform of 36 Estonian non-governmental organisations that work in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, sustainable development and global citizenship education.&nbsp; As a national platform we carry out both national and EU level advocacy with our members and partners on development issues and on SDGs and policy coherence. We are committed to capacity building of our members to provide stronger and more capable civil society to achieve our common goals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Advocacy and Policy Influence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AK\u00dc works to influence national and international policies related to development cooperation, sustainable development, and global justice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It represents its members&#8217; interests in dialogues with the Estonian government, the European Union, and other international bodies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Capacity Building<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AK\u00dc organizes training sessions, workshops, and produces resources to strengthen the capabilities of its member organizations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus areas include CSO capacities, advocacy skills etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AK\u00dc provides a platform for NGOs to collaborate, share experiences, and implement joint initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It connects Estonian organizations with international networks and funding opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Public Awareness rising and communication&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AK\u00dc promotes global education to increase public understanding of international development issues, including poverty reduction, human rights, and climate change.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It engages in campaigns and educational programs aimed at fostering a more informed and globally aware society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>AK\u00dc believes that All EU and Estonian policies and regulations must be coherent with each other and aimed at reducing inequalities and maintaining a more sustainable world. For example, today, on the one hand, the EU provides development aid, but at the same time some EU policies contribute to increasing poverty in developing countries.
